The election anxiety is finally over and the Bhutanese people are settling down, some with very high spirits and some trying to figure out what was the cause for this one sided elections, was it the candidates, the Party? We will never be able to comprehend the People’s dispositions.
The cranes victory over the stallion
The parlimentary elections was a sweep by the Druk phuensum tsogpa party headed by Jigme Yoezer Thinley. The people of Bhutan were anticipating a close contest but to everybody’s surprise, the DPT will be the ruling party without any opposition party. Hats off to Mr Jigme Yoezer Thinley for pulling it off.
The PDP president Mr. Sangay Ngedup Dorji despite his excellent track record lost by a landslide to a teacher with no experience in the Bhutanese bureaucracy. Is this where Bhutanese Democracy is heading?
